Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about our online tax courses, assessment, certificates and on-the-job training.

Our courses are designed for students, graduates and aspiring tax consultants who want practical, job-ready tax skills. Working tax professionals can also use our library of plain-English resources.

Courses are fully online and flexible, so you can study at your own pace. Each module comes with notes, checklists and templates.

Lessons are scenario-based. You follow a client from the first interview through to a lodged return, working with ATO forms and worked examples. Ethics is covered in every course.

There is a quiz after each set of modules, then a final assessment and a case study at the end of the course.

Yes. When you pass the final assessment you can download your TAA Certificate of Completion.

No. The TAA Certificate of Completion recognises that you have completed a Tax Academy Australia course. It is not a nationally recognised qualification and does not, on its own, meet Tax Practitioners Board registration requirements. For registration requirements, see the Tax Practitioners Board website.

Graduates who pass the final assessment can apply for on-the-job training. Places are limited and subject to application. Read more and apply.

Courses are written in plain English and grounded in current tax law and ATO guidance.
